SHREK JR. IS ON THE WAY TO THE DAVIS STAGE!

Welcome Ogres, Lords, Princesses, Animals, & Fairytale Creatures one and all!


Over the next several months, this blog shall take us on a journey from page to stage, or more specifically from auditions to opening night!

Schedules, Costume Information, Songs, Forms, Communications, and more are housed on our Davis Academy Shrek Jr. Production Blog.


PARTICIPANT & AUDITION INFORMATION


  • LOWER SCHOOL &  MIDDLE SCHOOL CREW
    • If you are a lower school or middle school crew participant, please fill out your production contract with  activity fee  in an envelope marked Shrek Jr.  Production Contract and return to the front desk of the lower or middle school. 
    • Once the production contract is turned in with the activity fee, each crew member will receive her/his script and cd of the show. 
    • The activity fee covers all materials: script, cd, show Shirt, and all instruction related to rehearsals and the production. Students keep their scripts, cds, and show shirt. 
    • The first lower school rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 3:20-4:30.
    • The full lower school schedule will be released at the first practice, along with the cd's and scripts.

  • MIDDLE SCHOOL PERFORMERS
    • If you are a middle school student wishing to audition, please pick up an audition packet on Ms. Kendrick's bulletin board outside of her MS room (room 101). 
    • If you wish to receive your script and cd prior to auditions, please turn in your production form and activity fee to the MS front desk. (Do not turn in your audition form, please bring that with you on the day of your audition along with your headshot/picture.


  • AUDITIONS
    •  ALL AUDITION & CALLBACK INFORMATION BELOW IS IN THE MS INFORMATION PACKET

    • Auditions take place on Thursday, November 13 in five minute individual increments from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. 
    • Callbacks are held on Friday, November 14 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. *
      • Everyone will attend the first half of callbacks from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
      • A Lunch break will occur from 12:15-12:45 p.m.
        • Auditionees should pack and bring a lunch, snack, and water bottle.
      • The second half of callbacks are from 12:45 p.m. until 4:00ish p.m.*
        • Auditionees will be on a rolling dismissal during the afternoon callback.
        • Auditionees will be dismissed individually once the panel has seen everything they need to see from each individual.  Please bring a cell phone to the auditions  (on silent mode) so that you may call your ride once you have been dismissed.  Auditionees may stay in the gym until their ride arrives to pick them up. 
      • Final Callbacks are held on Sunday, November 16  from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30ish (all out by 4 p.m.)  Auditioners may arrive early to warm up.
      • If needed, an additional final callback will take place Tuesday, November 18 from 3:30-5:30 in the cafeteria. 

  • AUDITION MATERIAL
    • THURSDAY, NOVEMBER  13th – Vocal Auditions (9:00 am – 4:00pm)
      • Please prepare 16-32 bars from  of TWO songs from Shrek, Jr.  OR  16-32 bars of  ONE musical  or pop song of your choice to perform AND 16-32 bars of  ONE song from Shrek, Jr.   (16-32 bars is approximately 30 seconds to one minute.)  Remember, we are looking for Personality and BIG, BOLD, CONFIDENT performers who look like they are having a BLAST on stage. These are cartoon characters, not pop stars so use interesting voices! HAM it up and have FUN! Make strong choices and shine on that stage!!!
    • FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14th – Dance Call,  Cold Readings, Songs (9:00am – until…)
      • For the Dance Audition, actors will be taught a short dance combination and will then be asked to perform it. Please wear comfortable clothing.  Again, have fun and just put yourself out there! :) 
      • For cold readings, actors will be asked to read for different characters from the script.  Please speak slowly, loudly, and clearly! The majority of script cuttings can be found here: http://www.broadwayjr.com/audition/auditionlist.asp?ID=000423
      • Additional Songs from Shrek, Jr. will be sung. So please be familiar with all of the Shrek, Jr, songs. Snippets of Shrek songs can be found here: http://www.mtishows.com/show_detail.asp?showid=000423
